Location: Banff Lake Cleanup at Lake Minnewanka's Cliff Dive Site (past boat launch & concession) Date: Saturday, Sept 30th, 2023 What: Lake clean-up dive - open to the 1st 25 DIVERS only! Cost:  FREE, PLUS will need Canada National Park Pass (choose day, weekend, annual, purchase in advance or at Park Gate) Hosted By: UW Outlaws Scuba Club (Calgary) & the AUC volunteers RSVP to:  ​ Event Times: 9:00 am Registration & Waivers 10:00 am Dive Safety Briefing 12:00 pm Lunch & Presentations 1:00 pm 2nd dive if wanted & conditions allow 3:00 pm Clean-up site, document & remove trash collected to Park garbage bins, pack-up dive gear, lock gate, etc.   Please Come out to collect some trash underwater and help keep our Alberta lakes, rivers, and waterways & National Parks debris free! ​ NOTE: Location: Lake Minnewanka (past the boat launch & concession) Banff, Alberta UW LAKE CLEANUP at Lake Minnewanka Cliff's Dive Site  ..... with thanks from Parks Canada   NOTE: We should have access to Gate (located just past boat launch & concession) & will be able to drive thru & park next to picnic shelter.  Suggest that divers gear up at vehicle or tailgate, then walk down to beach after Dive Safety Briefing. Note: This parking arrangement is very unusual, most divers must hike from main tourist parking lot at Lake Minnewanka to access the "Cliff's Dive Site" at Lake Minnewanka.   DIVERS - Remember - to stay clear of Boat Launches, Boat Traffic Lanes, Docks, Dams & Weirs, etc. LIMITED NUMBERS, MUST RSVP - Click on GET TICKETS via this AUC.TidyHQ Portal or Registering via email here for the first 20 divers only!

Sylvan Lake Cleanup 2023- 20th Annual Sunday, Sept 24, 2023 -  for this dedicated Underwater Lake Cleanup at Sylvan Lake - Main Pier Area WANTED - Divers, Paddlers & Shore Cleanup Volunteers Please RSVP & register on-line via this portal.   Hosted by the Alberta Underwater Council and its volunteers, with thanks to Town of Sylvan Lake Beach Area Cleanup to be conducted by local volunteers at the same time - organized by the Town of Sylvan Lake WAIVERS & RISK AWARENESS FORMS for both scuba diving and COVID-19 must be read & voluntarily signed prior to participation Arrive early for Registration, Dive Safety Briefing, Dive Buddy Gear Checks, etc, BRING all your own gear, at least one tank, extra weights are useful as the lake is very shallow Encourage volunteers - frequent hand washing after handling trash collected Anyone with increased risk of severe COVID-19 for themselves or family members should be encouraged not to participate   Divers, Remember to Bring: All your dive gear and only one tank!  Usually only do one dive to cleanup up underwater due to increased boat traffic in the afternoon PLUS: BCD, Regulators, drysuit/wetsuit, mask, snorkel, fins, boots, weights, dive computer, hood, gloves, 2-4 extra pounds of lead (max. depth is usually 6-10 feet so extra lead is helpful). Other dive gear that you will find useful to bring:  writing slate, compass, a tarp to change on Your certification card and logbook  Warm clothing, even if the sun is shining, be prepared for typical Alberta weather which could include rain, snow, and everything in between Town of Sylvan Lake usually provides BBQ Hot Dogs, or bring your own snacks, water, drinks Small amount of cash for donations, membership, raffle draws (if available) Mesh Bags & Cutting Device (safety scissors) provided by the AUC PADDLERS, launch 1/2 hour after our divers submerge BUT weather dependant (wind/waves) Paddlers, Remember to Bring: Life-Jacket, bailer, spare paddles, whatever you need to be safe out there! Appropriate clothing, wetsuits, wetsuit boots, (water temps are getting cold!), footwear, etc    SHORE SUPPORT VOLUNTEERS - assist divers, sort trash, record data, remove trash to garbage truck provided by the Town of Sylvan Lake Beach Cleanup to be conducted by local volunteers at the same time to be organized by the Town of Sylvan LakeRemember to Bring Appropiate clothing, sturdy footwear, garden gloves, small container for small metal pieces, broken glass, etc. DO NOT pick up needles - please report their location to the Town of Sylvan Lake.

UW Dive Rodeo Events & Lake Cleanup NOTE: Changed to SUNDAY, AUG 20th, 2023 Location: Cold Lk Provincial Park - Day Use area Hosted by FortMacScuba.com & Lakeland Scuba Society, includes lots of fun dive challenges, lake cleanup, camradiere, etc. Arrive early to register & set-up gear (Bring a Tarp), Must be present for Dive Safety Briefing. Lunch provided with registration fee (usually Subway - variety of meats, etc).    Divers, Remember to Bring: All your dive gear and tanks (at least 2 or more) - BCD, regulators, drysuit/wetsuit, mask, snorkel, fins, boots, weights, dive computer, hood, gloves, SMB - surface marker buoy - can be helpful as there is often lots of boat traffic who don't (unfortunately) respect or know about the dive marker buoys. Other dive gear that you will need to bring: writing slate & compass (one per buddy team), a dive light might also be of use as a signalling device. PLUS a tarp to change onto Your certification card and logbook  Warm clothing, even if the sun is shining, be prepared for typical Alberta weather which could include wind chill, rain, snow, and everything in between This event includes food and water, but if you have allergies or special dietary requirements, bring your own lunch, juice or snacks Lawn chair, bug spray, sunscreen Small amount of cash for registration fees, raffle draws, airfills (if available)

Dear AB Divers & Scuba Club Members: RE: Twin Lakes Camp n' Dive Weekend July 22/23/2023 Everyone is welcome to attend! Come out just for the day (either day or both) & help u/w cleanup of the lake! Come early (8:30 - 9am) as parking is very limited. BBQ Lunch provided to divers and/or $5 for friend/family. ALSO: Camp 'n Dive: Come out & camp for the weekend at nearby Lion's Campground at Winfield, AB - they have a "group section" available. (overnight fees apply). Bring a dish to share for the UW Outlaw's Saturday Evening POTLUCK Supper (6:30 PM) and Campfire. Also Pancake brekkie for campers there on Sunday morning provided by the Wing Divers Scuba Club (8-9am). May Long Weekend (May 20/21, 2023)  (62nd Jasper Aquathon) A Fun, Casual Get-Together for Divers & Non-Divers Alike!  Note: nothing big is being organized due to volunteer burn-out, a casual meet up & go diving only. Everyone Welcome!  Whistler Campground recommended (newly renovated) Must book your own preferred Campsite with Parks Canada, Jasper - Dive 4-5 lakes in Jasper, Saturday - Saturday AM: meet early at 8:00 AM at Lake Annette parking lot, (note: limited parking in Jasper, all parking lots fill up fast with day use users, kayakers, etc), find a dive buddy, make plans & participate in additional dives & optional lake cleanups.  - Meet new dive buddies -  join Divers from all across Alberta in Jasper, check-out the Jasper lakes, ie: Lake Annette, Lake Edith, Lac Beauvert, Patricia Lake, Horseshoe Lake - Share & Enjoy Camping, Diving, share Campfire diver stories - Lots of additional activities also available: sight-seeing, cycling, paddle boarding, Jasper Tramway, etc. NOTE: AUC's Sincere Thanks & Appreciation to the efforts of all the numerous AUC & Dive Club Volunteers AND to our local AB Dive Stores (LDS) Sponsors who have helped support this popular multi-day event for over 60 years (started 1962)!  Note: this is now a casual camp n' dive event only due to volunteer burn-out.  If you want this event to come back & continue, please contact an AUC Board volunteer!
